Had to let go an engineer today.
I was convinced that the decision was right, but that did not make it easy.
The guy is so nice, i felt like crap breaking the news to him.
I felt like a bad person for a good amount of time and finally went n talked to Ambuj about it.
Thank god for Ambuj!
He reminded me why i had to make that decision. He refused two good offers, one to get transferred another to rerurn to work from loss of pay. Each time he turned it down i explained that he should reconsider given the industry situation. (Company has fired over 20000 employees).
Today while talking to him he told me that he was using this time to pursue a hobby in language. He had thought that because of the activity slow down he could get some time off for personal stuff. But never mentioned this to me till now nor made a formal request for the personal time.

Umm, the title led me to expect something very different. Something philosophical, maybe about letting go of a relationship or a situation :P
